Superior engineering, uncommon performance
The all-new 2024 Subaru Impreza is the latest example of legendary Subaru engineering in action. Built on a platform that’s stronger and safer than ever, the Impreza features standard Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD, the choice of two SUBARU BOXER® engines and an independent suspension system developed over decades of motorsport competition. This core technology combines to create superb handling, dynamic all-road/all-weather capability and a level of confidence behind the wheel that is simply unmatched in its class.
The dynamic SUBARU BOXER® engine
The 2024 Subaru Impreza is available with the choice of two direct-injection SUBARU BOXER® engines. On the Convenience and Touring trim levels, the engine is a naturally aspirated 2.0L 4-cylinder. Meanwhile, the naturally aspirated 2.5L 4-cylinder powers the RS and Sport-tech trim levels. Both engines feature advanced technologies such as Dual Active Valve Control and the latest weight-saving measures. These engines offer superior efficiency, low emissions, crisp acceleration and remarkable driver engagement. Both engines are linked to the Lineartronic® CVT and, on the Touring trim level and above, further governed by the SI-DRIVE® engine management system with its eco-friendly Intelligent (I) and ultra-responsive Sport (S) modes.

Lineartronic® CVT + Symmetrical AWD
The all-new Impreza features the Lineartronic® CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), a technologically advanced design that’s linked to a multi-plate transfer clutch version of Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD. The Lineartronic incorporates lightweight materials, a wide range of gear ratios and Auto Stepped Speed Control, which triggers shifts like a traditional automatic transmission. The combination of the CVT and AWD systems create superior response, driveability, quietness and fuel efficiency, as well as predictable handling in low-traction conditions. This transmission also comes equipped with Hill Start Assist, while Touring and higher trim levels feature paddle shifters and an 8-speed manual mode.
Super-strong chassis, ultra-nimble handling
The all-new 2024 Subaru Impreza is constructed on a lightweight, ultra-rigid chassis that raises the bar in the compact hatchback class. This inherent strength allows the engineers at Subaru the freedom to optimize ride and handling characteristics. The long-travel fully independent suspension system and wide track give this sporty compact fun-to-drive handling, a smooth ride over the rough stuff and a clear edge over the competition.
Subaru Global Platform
The all-new Impreza is built on a revised version of the Subaru Global Platform. This latest design utilizes more high-tensile materials to create dramatic increases in body rigidity and to reduce twisting forces. Armed with a more robust platform, the engineers at Subaru have further optimized the fully independent suspension system to deliver new levels of dynamic handling, control and safety. For the Impreza driver, this translates into a smoother, quieter and more comfortable ride, lower levels of vibration, more precise steering and more sheer fun behind the wheel.
Front Suspension
Fine-tuned by Subaru engineers over decades of rally competition, the MacPherson® front strut-type suspension system uses stabilizer bars for greater stability, direct response and improved driver feedback. This design also incorporates a motorsports-derived K-shaped cross-member brace to lessen lateral forces and vibration. When combined with the car’s very wide track, this suspension design creates razor-sharp steering, remarkable handling and an extremely composed ride.
Rear Suspension
The double-wishbone rear suspension system is engineered to create sports car levels of handling and stability, while reducing noise and vibration at the same time. The rear bushings and shock absorbers are fine-tuned to minimize harshness, creating a comfortable ride that manages to absorb bumps easily, yet still give the Impreza a truly sporty edge. This system utilizes a rear stabilizer bar for a smoother and more controlled ride. This stabilizer bar is mounted directly to the body to slash body roll in half. This suspension system is also designed to avoid encroaching into the cargo area, preserving storage space.
