Uncommon engineering,
uncontested performance
The 2024 Subaru WRX is the uncommon sportscar powered by some of the most advanced automotive technologies in the world, including Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD (for uncontested control) and a turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® engine (for superior response). Built on the Subaru Global Platform, this latest WRX is also the strongest ever, so the chassis is more resistant to twisting forces, and the car is more stable and sharper handling than ever. Long story short, this is the WRX you know, now taken to exciting new levels of performance.
The incredibly powerful, wildly responsive SUBARU BOXER®
The 2024 Subaru WRX features a turbocharged direct-injection 2.4L 4-cylinder SUBARU BOXER® engine that balances potent performance with optimal fuel efficiency. The twin-scroll turbocharger creates a long, flat torque curve for crisp response and striking driveability, with peak torque arriving at 2,000 RPM, making even everyday driving a more exciting prospect. The turbocharged SUBARU BOXER® incorporates a high-efficiency intercooler for reliable performance and benefits from the inherently smooth operation of the horizontally opposed configuration. This is the heart of the 2024 WRX—and it beats stronger than ever.

Standard on select WRX models equipped with the Subaru Performance Transmission®, SI-DRIVE® brings new levels of flexibility to the performance driving experience. The WRX Sport (SPT) gets three different driver-selectable modes ranging from the ultra-efficient [I] to the lightning quick [S#], this advanced engine management system puts increased control at your fingertips.
Drive Mode Select
The WRX GT (SPT) gets Drive Mode Select where its 4 pre-set modes take the performance driving experience to another level with an additional Individual setting. It’s the perfect way to switch up your drive on-the-fly.
Transmissions + Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD
The 2024 WRX is equipped with either a precise 6-speed manual transmission or the quick shifting automatic Subaru Performance Transmission® (SPT). Each is linked to a different version of the legendary Subaru Symmetrical Full-Time AWD system to create optimum response to the complete range of driving conditions. Both transmission/drive systems put the focus on performance driving, while still maintaining high levels of control and decent fuel efficiency.
6-Speed Manual + Viscous-coupling Centre Differential AWD
The 6-speed manual transmission in the WRX is linked to a viscous-coupling limited-slip centre differential AWD system that delivers near-neutral handling and maximum control. For the latest WRX, both the short-throw transmission itself and clutch were reinforced for a more solid and more linear feel. These characteristics combine to create a sportier, more direct connection between the driver and the car, and the car and the road, regardless of the conditions or the circumstances.
Subaru Performance Transmission® (SPT) + VTD AWD
Exclusive to the WRX, the Subaru Performance Transmission® (SPT) is paired with a variable torque distribution (VTD) AWD system that sends slightly more power to the rear wheels, creating a sporty driving feel. The transmission also features a sleek stylish shift lever, an 8-step manual mode, paddle shifters and automatic throttle blipping for quicker downshifts. Linked to the driver-selectable SI-DRIVE® engine management system for increased control and featuring an air-cooled transmission oil cooler, the SPT delivers superior performance and incredible efficiency, all in one.
Super-strong, performance-tuned chassis
Years of motorsport competition combined with advances in materials and engineering have inspired a revolutionary chassis design for the latest WRX. Built on the Subaru Global Platform, this chassis features increased strength, exceptional stability, reduced noise, reduced harshness and heightened safety overall. The use of more high-tensile steel in key areas has created greater torsional stiffness compared to the previous model. This core strength allows the long-travel, fully independent suspension system and electric power steering to create superior handling and response under all possible conditions. End result: uncommon levels of control and confidence behind the wheel.

Front Suspension
Key revisions to the renowned MacPherson® front strut-type suspension system give this WRX heightened levels of dynamic response. The addition of a k-shaped cross-member brace, a design usually found only on high-performance sportscars, creates a greater connection to the road. Improvements made to the dampers, the rebound rate for the coil springs and the fastening point of the ball joint provide improved stability, steering response and feedback to the driver. This innovative front suspension design, combined with a wide track and low centre of gravity, give the latest WRX more crisp steering, improved handling and a surprisingly composed ride on all types of surfaces. The RS trim gets further performance tuning while the GT trim is equipped with adaptive electronic dampers for sharper handling.
Rear Suspension
The proven double-wishbone rear suspension system has been retuned to provide a more stable, smoother and more planted feel, especially in the corners. The rear stabilizer bar is mounted directly to the body of the WRX, eliminating the previous rubber bushings and slashing body roll by 50% over the previous version. This design offers more control over the degree to which the rear wheels tilt in and out when cornering, helping to maintain maximum tire contact with the road surface at all times. This rear suspension type is also flatter and more compact than other designs, so the components don’t intrude into the cargo area, thereby freeing up more storage space. Further performance tuning is applied to the RS trim while the GT trim gets sharper handling with adaptive electronic dampers.
