Stronger and safer
than ever

Stronger and safer than ever

Subaru vehicles have earned a reputation for offering superior levels of protection through the use of advanced engineering, class-leading manufacturing methods and the most sophisticated safety systems available. The end result: vehicles that inspire confidence on every type of road, under all possible conditions and at all times. This tradition continues with the 2023 Subaru Crosstrek, which is built upon an ultra-strong platform and features more active safety technology than ever before.

Advanced thinking, active safety

The combination of a world-class AWD system, striking agility, superior visibility and class-leading active safety systems gives the Crosstrek excellent evasive capabilities. Next-generation technologies used in the EyeSight®◊ system, the Subaru Rear/Side Vehicle Detection system and ABS represent the critical first line of defence—and the best way to avoid a potential accident in the first place.

EyeSight Disclaimer Brief

EyeSight® is a driver assist system, which may not operate optimally under all driving conditions. The driver is always responsible for safe and attentive driving. System effectiveness depends on many factors such as vehicle maintenance, and weather and road conditions. See Owner's Manual for complete details on system operation and limitations. Please remember to turn off EyeSight when going through a car wash.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek EyeSight® Driver-Assist Technology

EyeSight® Driver Assist Technology

This innovative system utilizes two cameras to monitor activity on the road ahead, help identify potential danger and provide assistance to the driver when needed most. EyeSight® encompasses several different active safety systems: pre-collision braking, pre-collision brake assist, pre-collision throttle management, adaptive cruise control, lead vehicle start alert, lane departure warning, lane sway warning, lane keep assist and lane centring assist. With this available technology on-board, the Crosstrek has attained class-leading safety standards from the IIHS.

High Beam Assist

This feature provides better visibility by automatically switching from high beams to low when traffic is approaching or when catching up to another vehicle in the road ahead. When traffic clears again, the high beams switch back on to ensure optimum illumination at all times. This feature is available on select trim levels that are equipped with EyeSight®.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Reverse Automatic Braking

Reverse Automatic Braking

Available on select trim levels that are equipped with EyeSight®, this safety feature uses proximity sensors to warn the driver as the vehicle approaches an obstacle behind the vehicle. This system also has the capability to apply the brakes automatically if it detects that a collision is imminent.

Front-view Camera

Available exclusively on the Outdoor trim level, this camera captures a near 180-degree view around the front of the vehicle. This image is then projected onto the Multi-Function Display, giving a clear view of obstacles close to the vehicle and helping the driver when entering an obstructed intersection or cresting a hill.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Rearview Camera

Rearview Camera

This standard rearview camera is positioned close to the centre of the rear hatch to capture a wide, natural, distortion-free image that appears on the centre console screen. The projected image also features dynamic guidelines that show where the vehicle is headed to help when reversing. The camera lens is fitted with a hydrophilic coating to help clear water, dirt or grime, improving visibility and taking safety to new heights.

Subaru Rear/Side Vehicle Detection System (SRVD)

Available on the Sport, Limited and Outdoor models, SRVD represents a big step towards full-perimeter preventative safety and has three distinct functions. Blind Spot Detection identifies vehicles driving in your blind spots. Lane Change Assist detects vehicles approaching quickly from an adjacent lane. And, utilizing sensors mounted at the back of the vehicle, Rear Cross Traffic Alert signals when vehicles are approaching from either side while you’re reversing out of a parking space or driveway.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Steering Responsive HeadLights

Steering Responsive HeadLights

Available on the Sport and Limited models, these LED headlights provide an added measure of illumination when rounding corners, automatically angling in the direction the vehicle is turning. The headlights themselves incorporate the latest LED technology, creating better visibility by generating a brighter and whiter light.

Subaru Crosstrek Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

Anti-lock Braking System (ABS)

The high-performance braking system on the Crosstrek features a short pedal stroke, high-quality brake pads and next-generation calipers to ensure quick and sure response. The ABS is programmed with numerous critical safety advances, including Electronic Brake-force Distribution, Brake Assist and Brake Override. The braking system also includes Hill Start Assist, which prevents rollback when starting out on steep inclines.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC)

Vehicle Dynamics Control (VDC)

Standard on all models, VDC^ utilizes advanced sensors to monitor and analyze if the vehicle is following the driver’s intended course. When approaching the limits of stability, the system automatically adjusts the engine output, braking force at each wheel and AWD torque distribution to help keep the vehicle on-course. Another standard feature, Active Torque Vectoring, further helps in corners by applying braking force to the inside front wheel and distributing more engine torque to the outside front wheel. These systems give all drivers the feeling of added security and increased confidence under all possible scenarios.

Creates peace of mind

In the event that an accident proves unavoidable, the 2023 Crosstrek is better equipped to protect occupants than ever before. Built on the Subaru Global Platform, this compact crossover scores big in terms of protection through the extensive use of high-strength material combined with the latest technological advances. Together with standard auto door lock/unlock and rear seat reminder safety features, these measures work to minimize collision damage, reduce the chance of injury, deliver class-leading levels of safety and generate greater peace of mind.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Advanced Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame

Advanced Ring-shaped Reinforcement Frame

This advanced frame design strengthens the passenger compartment by linking the roof to the side pillars and the floor, creating a single robust safety cell. This design serves to dissipate impact energy and divert it away from the passenger cabin, while a specially designed crumple zone provides further protection in the event of a frontal impact. Overall, this design absorbs 40% more impact energy than previous versions by incorporating ultra-strong rear door beams, additional reinforcements and tougher joint structures.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Injury-reducing Seats and Seatbelt Systems

Injury-reducing Seats and Seatbelt Systems

The front seats feature frames, energy-absorbing mountings and active headrests engineered to reduce the chance of whiplash. Height-adjustable front seatbelts with shoulder pretensioners hold passengers firmly in place, the locking tongue brings added restraining strength to the seatbelts and load limiters ease peak forces to the chest. The ISO-FIX/LATCH system, which features a lower anchor bar positioned for easy use, helps secure younger passengers riding in compatible child safety seats.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Airbags

Airbags

Every version of the Subaru Crosstrek comes standard with a full complement of supplemental restraints designed to better protect occupants in the event of a collision. This extensive list includes dual-stage deployment front airbags, a driver knee airbag, front seat-mounted side-impact airbags and side-curtain airbags for front and rear outboard occupants.

2023 Subaru Crosstrek Break-away Engine

Break-away Engine

In utilizing the Subaru Global Platform, the SUBARU BOXER® engine sits lower in the vehicle than before, which leads to even higher levels of safety. In the event of a head-on collision, the engine and transmission are designed to absorb impact, then break away from the vehicle structure and drop below the passenger cabin for added protection.
