Manager, Financial Analysis & Controls

The Manager, Financial Analysis & Controls is responsible for leading Subaru Canada’s financial planning, forecasting, budgeting, and internal control activities. This role supports OEM program costing, warranty reserve monitoring, and departmental budget management, while also contributing to high-impact corporate initiatives alongside the Controller and CFO. The Manager will oversee profitability analysis on various areas of the business, treasury functions, driving automation initiatives, improving audit readiness, and providing actionable insights to support strategic decisions. The incumbent will report to the Controller and will be based out of Subaru Canada’s head office in Mississauga, ON.

Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, maintenance, and use of financial models for planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Manage Incentive Accounting analyst
  • Support the Controller and CFO on critical profit projects through in-depth financial analysis and operational reporting.
  • Assist in vehicle remarketing analysis
  • Assist in the implementation of the OneStream planning system by preparing data models, testing templates, and ensuring accuracy in financial workflows.
  • Track, reconcile, and analyze incentive program accruals and redemptions, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Approve and monitor capital investments, ensuring ROI alignment with corporate strategy.
  • Support validation of subvention costs and other finance-related OEM incentives.
  • Prepare and monitor after-sales warranty and extended warranty reserves, ensuring accuracy and sufficiency.
  • Work directly with departmental budget owners to ensure understanding and ownership of financial results.
  • Assist the Controller in gathering data and preparing analysis for re-insurance business activities.
  • Establish and track finance-related KPIs to support operational and strategic goals.
  • Partner with IT to improve ERP and BI reporting capabilities, enhancing automation and data quality.
  • Oversee internal control documentation, identify areas for improvement, and implement corrective actions.
  • Manage and mentor team members in incentive administration and treasury functions, ensuring effective performance.

Required Skills / Attributes:

  • Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A): Expertise in developing financial models for planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Accounting & Internal Controls: Strong background in accounting, including managing incentive accruals, warranty reserves, and internal control documentation.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced proficiency in Excel, with experience in automating finance processes and improving ERP/BI reporting being a significant asset.
  • Leadership: Experience in managing and mentoring staff.
  • Communication: Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work with various departments and senior leadership.
  • Credentials: CPA designation required with a minimum of 5 years of post-designation experience.

Qualifications:

  • CPA designation required
  • Minimum of 5 years of post-designation experience in finance, accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and internal controls.
  • Leadership experience managing staff and delivering process improvements.
  • Strong analytical skills and advanced Excel proficiency.
  • Experience in automation of finance processes is an asset.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
