Established in 1981, RMHC Toronto provides a “home away from home” for out-of-town families in search of life-saving treatment at specialized local hospitals for their seriously ill children. The new House, which opened in November 2011, accommodates 81 families, three times the number of the former facility, and is currently the second-largest House in the world. The facility offers support in many important ways, including a school classroom for learning, the Child Life program for moral support, an activity program for creative expression and a special day camp-like program for the summer months.
RMHC Toronto has been the charity of choice for Subaru Canada since 2002. Subaru Canada shows its support in many ways, including sponsorship of the Subaru Canada Room through the Adopt-a-Room program as well as the donation of a new Subaru vehicle each year for families to use during their stay. Subaru also provides support through sponsorship initiatives such as the Subaru Triathlon Series and matching donations from activities like the Toronto Subaru Club HyperMeeting.
