Still adventurous at heart,
always rugged to the core

The 2026 Subaru Outback announces its evolution at first glance. A taller stance, upright front fascia and wider track lend it true SUV presence, while a sculpted grille, bold body cladding and refined LED lighting communicate strength and precision. Improved aerodynamics enhance stability and efficiency, and the expanded glass area provides a clear view in every direction. With 220 mm of standard ground clearance—or 240 mm on the Outback Wilderness™—this authentic adventurer is ready for anything from snow-packed city streets to gravel backroads from coast to coast.

Versatile Roof Rails

The Outback’s cargo-carrying genius begins at the roof. Standard raised roof rails feature integrated tie-down holes that allow for flexible mounting for everything from cargo boxes to bikes and kayaks. Wilderness™ models showcase anodized copper accented heavy-duty fixed-position rails with an impressive 700-lb static load rating.

Power Liftgate

Convenience meets capability with the power liftgate, standard on all Outback trim levels. A press of the key fob opens the rear hatch for effortless loading. The system includes an integrated safety sensor that detects obstacles in its path, a programmable stop-position memory to set your preferred height and an auto-close feature that secures the hatch with a gentle touch. All Outback trim levels, except for Touring, come with an LED cargo-area lamp on the liftgate itself, so packing up after sunset is just as easy.

Power Sunroof

Open up to bigger skies. The standard power sunroof slides wide to let in sunshine or tilts for refreshing airflow on the move. A manual sunshade helps keep the cabin cool during hot summer days, while the Outback’s generous headroom ensures tall passengers enjoy both space and sky. Whether it’s crisp mountain air or a glimpse of northern lights, the sunroof brings the outdoors into every journey.

Generous Ground Clearance

Capability starts where the pavement ends. Every 2026 Outback delivers 220 mm of ground clearance—more than many full-size SUVs—helping it clear snowdrifts, ruts and uneven trails with ease. The Wilderness™ trim goes further still, raising that number to 240 mm and improving approach, break-over and departure angles for superior off-road geometry. The result is confident, composed travel on routes other vehicles simply can’t reach.

Aluminum Alloy Wheels

The 2026 Outback rolls on distinctive wheel designs that combine style with substance. Touring models feature bold 18-inch aluminum alloy, dark grey metallic finish wheels. The Wilderness™ sports rugged 17-inch aluminum alloy, split 5-spoke wheels with matte black finish—ready for mud, gravel or fresh powder. Limited XT and Premier XT trims complete the lineup with 19-inch aluminum alloy wheels*. Limited XT wheels get a black painted finish while Premier XT wheels feature a black painted and machined finish which strike the perfect balance between sophistication and adventure.

LED Headlights and Fog Lights

Brighter, whiter and smarter, the Outback’s standard LED headlights and fog lights cut through darkness and poor weather with confidence. Automatic on/off functionality responds to low-light conditions or wiper use, while High Beam Assist toggles between high and low beams automatically to avoid dazzling oncoming drivers. The Wilderness™ introduces exclusive hexagonal LED fog lights that project a wide, uniform beam—ideal for backroads and early-morning starts.

Aerodynamics

Form and function come together in a body designed to move efficiently through the air. Subtly contoured side mirrors, carefully shaped wheel designs and an integrated rear spoiler help reduce turbulence and wind noise. The Touring trim includes Active Grille Shutters that automatically open and close for optimum cooling and aerodynamic performance—closed at highway speeds for reduced drag, open when extra airflow is needed. The result: better fuel efficiency, quicker engine warm-up in winter and the quiet confidence Subaru drivers appreciate on every drive.
