St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog program
With over 130 years in Canada, St. John Ambulance has established itself as a world-class organization with a mission to focus on health, safety and quality of life. Teaching first aid across Canada evolved to support a proud tradition of volunteer work from coast to coast.
In 1992, the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog volunteer program was launched. This initiative sees carefully selected dogs and their handlers visit hospitals, long-term care facilities, schools, or any setting where people may be feeling lonely or isolated. These special canines offer a very unique therapeutic service, including comfort to patients, companionship for seniors, building self-esteem among youths at risk and children with special needs, and stress relief from exams for college and university students.
At Subaru Canada, we are proud to have signed on as a Signature Sponsor of the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog program and are honoured to be aligned with such a valuable service. The core values of caring and community resonate profoundly with us as an organization and with our owners.
